A SNEAK PEEK INTO ISSUE 4

ICYMI, Teen Eye's fourth issue is out. (Aww, you guys, that means it's been a year!) Zak and Em co-edited under the theme ROOTS, paying homage to the people, places, and things that shaped us into who and what we are today. Here's the abridged version of the 154 (spectacular) pages.

ART:

Interview with Mary Rosenberger

I would describe my style to be simplistically powerful. I want to show my fellow artists and other people interested in making art that it’s not always about completing a Da Vinci masterpiece. Art is about conveying your emotions, the feelings your words are at a loss for

Interview with Collin Mcadoo

I’m still trying to understand pop culture, really. I’m trying to figure out why things are the way they are, but nothing ever makes very much sense. I think pop culture today is a result of too many people not thinking all at once. I do not believe that our generation is degenerate though, not even a little bit. If anything I feel as if this generation is an improvement over previous generations.

Every last job you are given is a chance to prove your worth, so be keen, because no one forgets the girl willing to hand wash a model’s dirty underwear in the bathroom sink.

It seems as though the fashion industry is dying—or is it? If we let the industry run it’s course, then those who really care about it will be left behind to pick up the pieces and start over again. While I am writing this, I can literally see Grace Coddington picking up a piece of a broken runway set while some fashion blogger tiptoes around the aftermath of a drawn out catastrophe because suddenly, there was nothing left to Instagram.

Which creative director got called a piece of shit by his teachers? Which chiseled male model spent every waking moment in the forest? Which new Victoria's Secret girl tried to make everyone laugh, and which Italian megababe would sometimes 'be mad at all the world'?

What It's Like To Be Korean - Janice Kim

I knew I was Korean when my neighbor knocked on my door during breakfast. It was spring of 2010 in Vancouver, on the 7th floor of the apartment by Ambleside Beach. The morning sky was scattered with cotton ball clouds, just enough so I could see the blue sky. It was my favorite kind of day.

Of course, this is just a tiny fraction of the content the issue holds. The only way to get the full scoop - on what it's like shooting behind the scenes and on how a model gets cast, on the standout NYFW shows, on what teens today really think - is to read it yourself
